With the global outbreak of COVID-19 and the race to stop the spread of the disease, communities of tech professionals, data scientists, healthcare professionals, designers, researchers and entrepreneurs are coming together online to collaborate, innovate and quickly find solutions through hackathons. There are many hackathons taking place across Europe; below is a list of current and upcoming hackathons which we will keep updated.

The Global Hack
9 - 12 April
Objective - An online hackathon designed to share and rapidly develop ideas for urgently needed solutions in the face of the current crisis, as well as to build resilience post-pandemic. Idea submission is now open.
Outcomes: There were over 12k participants from 100+ countries who worked on 500 life-changing projects.
Overall winner - SunCrafter:
The disinfection station will provide a holistic solution for a hygiene method as a global standard. By providing easy, affordable and barrier-free access to hand disinfection, we can help reduce the spread of viruses like corona, both within Europe and abroad. We achieve such extensive coverage by coupling UV lamps with our upcycled solar generators, allowing it to be a truly sustainable and inclusive solution that can be brought to exactly where it's needed.
