Background
The strategic activities of the region include a focus on socio-health care and those aimed at the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Thus, tele-medicine, tele-care, or the development of applications for care and assistance in the home, as well as the monitoring of chronic patients.
The region also has a focus on the use of the use of "ohmic" techniques, and the development of health technologies, medical devices and new drugs. The health sector is also focussing on making infrastructure and public services a model of a "living laboratory" in which to generate and validate technologies that improve the quality of life of citizens.

Innovative initiatives for the promotion of active aging in the EuroACE region 2014 - 2020 INTERREG V-A Spain - Portugal immigration Improving the scientific excellence of the cross border cooperation area in the research field with the potential to become internationally competitive (1) strengthening research, technological development and innovation by: (1a) enhancing research and innovation (R&I) infrastructure and capacities to develop R&I excellence, and promoting centres of competence, in particular those of European interest. "In recent years there has been a constant movement of patients from rural to urban areas. Within this framework of healthcare disparity within regions, the project aims to:
Create upgraded secondary care structures for citizens in the cross border area
Increase the quality of health service provision both to local and moving population (tourists, migrants etc).
Improve provided services
Eliminate the conditions excluding sensitive social groups by encouraging cross border healthcare cooperation among structures and their management
