Background
Centru is a development region in Romania with a population of 2.3 million. The regions’ S3 priorities include, amongst others, a focus on medicine and pharmaceuticals including personalized medicine models based on data provided through computer simulations, based on nano imaging. The priorities also aim to address fundamental research and preventive medicine strategies - developing knowledge of human integrative biological systems.

Major initiatives
inDemand (the initative was replicated in Centru Region)
- inDemand is a H2020 initiative replicated by RDA Centru at regional level. This projects is based on a model where healthcare organisations and companies co-create eHealth solutions, with the economic support of regional funds. The project involves 3 categories of actors: SMEs (as idea generator and solution developer), hospitals (as challengers – the organization who needs a problem solved) and RDA Centru as the funder (alongside the SMEs finds grants for funding the idea in order to solve the hospital’s need).This project is a good example of facilitating the cooperation between regional and international actors and also implementing RIS3.
